ASSISTANT COACH
Joey Hamilton | 14U Disruption

HEAD COACH
Sara O’Malley | 14U Disruption

After spending decades in the local softball community, Coach Sara O’Malley could not find the travel experience and team environment she wanted for her players so she created it. And in 2023, Disruption Fastpitch was born.

In her second year as Director and Head Coach, Coach Sara is a fierce competitor at heart, having grown up in the Central Ohio community playing only one sport, fastpitch softball. She started out as a Stingray and grew up through the ranks in the Heart of Ohio organization under Coach Todd Bright where she played travel softball through her freshman year of college.

A 2001 graduate of Dublin Scioto High School, Sara started every varsity game during her high school tenure holding many of the schools records that still stand true today. After high school, Coach Sara was recruited to play Division 1 Softball at Bowling Green State University (Go Falcons!) It’s where she mastered grit, perseverance, and owning your role, no matter what position on the field the game took her. She continues to serve on the sport’s advisory council at BGSU, helping the Falcons with fundraising endeavors and programs that continue to expand the success of softball at the University.

Coach SO’s approach to the game is simple; innings are earned and positive attitudes are contagious. Her tagline (among many others) “Pick a player and pump them up,” as well as “So what? WORK HARDER!”

While she focuses on the competitive and permanent mechanics of the game, Coach Sara is just as focused on building confidence beyond the playing field. As she says, “we’re building strong women and playing softball on the side…”

She resides in Dublin with her three daughters; Madison, Mackenzie and Morgan, her husband of nearly twenty years, Matt and their paddy pups, Cooper and (Crazy) Eddie.

Coach Joey brings an unmatched energy and speed to the game! Having grown up in Southern Ohio, he competed and excelled at baseball at a young age behind the plate.

A graduate of Wilmington High School, Coach Joey was recruited to play baseball at Wilmington College. With experience as a collegiate-level catcher, Coach Joey helps lead our team in game-day strategy, especially on defense, and works with our catchers to set the pace and rhythm of every game. His other milestone achievement? A law degree from The Ohio State University.

He has held several coachig posts; both at the Middle School and travel ball levels and is a positive force on and off the field (you should see his lip syncing skills).

He resides in Dublin with his daughter Elsye, team Mascot and son Westin, aka “Wiggles” and his wife, Mallory.

COLLEGE MENTOR/COACH
Marti Henkel | 14U Disruption

Coach Marti joins Disruption as an experienced player in all realms of competitive softball. She is a 2022 graduate of Dublin Coffman High School where she started as a catcher. She hit .483 in her final year with more than 30 RBI’s. Marti is an alumni of the Outlaws Fastpitch softball organization and was recruited to play Division 1 Softball at BGSU. She lead the Falcons behind the plate and at first base early in her career. After her sophomore year, Marti bravely entered the NCAA transfer portal where she received a full-ride, D1 offer to continue playing collegiate softball at App State in Boone, North Carolina. We could not be more excited or proud of her!

Marti brings high energy and a strong work ethic to every practice, game or team event. Her tagline, “fall in love with the little things,” has become a team motto!

When she’s not laying down her Mountaineer roots, Marti resides in Dublin with her parents, Chuck and Deana Henkel. She was Valedictorian of her class, and graduated Summa cum Laude. She plans to major in marketing and fuel her love of softball through coaching.
